Manufacturer Highlights

Scs Electronic Material Solutions Division

On January 2, 2015, Desco Industries, Inc. of Chino, California purchased the assets of the 3M Static Control business, thereby creating the largest manufacturer of Static Control products in North America. This purchase led to the creation of Desco Industries newest brand, SCS. The static control market is a niche market and a fairly new one. 3M made many contributions as the market leader, including inventing the Metal-Out Static Shielding bag in 1977. They also developed high-tech solutions for static control challenges, particularly in promoting the use of workstation continuous monitors. Previous acquisitions have contributed to SCS becoming a vertically integrated manufacturer that spans from raw materials to finished products, providing unique control over the supply chain, product development, manufacturing, and quality management. We now have the broadest range of static control shielding and barrier bags which are manufactured at our Sanford, NC facility. And with our manufacturing capabilities we can and do make specialty films on-site. The acquisition of Credence Technologies in 2006 led to the development of high-end monitoring equipment for ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) control compliance. These products help electronic manufacturers manage their ESD program. Some of the equipment can be used to create a comprehensive SCS Static Management Program using a system of test equipment and software to monitor ESD control compliance in real-time. The Static Management Program (SMP) is designed to improve the customer's product quality, production yields, and reliability. Although some changes have been made, our philosophy remains the same. We continue to offer a full line of Static Control products, using the same product numbers, manufactured by the same people. Our intent is to fill holes in the offering to have the broadest Static Control offering available along with the continuing to provide innovative technology. We sell our products through a wide network of manufacturer's reps, distributors, and resellers. We also have a comprehensive eCommerce web site, StaticControl.com. On our site you will find many resources which include technical documents, videos, product selection guides, published articles, and much more. SCS encourages our customers and sales partners to visit us at our manufacturing facilities (4 buildings, 200,000 sq. ft.) facility in Sanford, North Carolina.
