General Purpose ICs

General purpose integrated circuits (ICs) are usually made of multiple, individual circuits or components that are combined onto a single chip. Microcontrollers, operational amplifiers, and voltage regulators are examples of general purpose circuits.

The ICs are extremely versatile and can be more cost-effective than custom designed circuits across large projects. Unfortunately, general purpose ICs may not provide the same level of performance or efficiency as custom circuits.
