Active Filters

Active filters are electronic systems that use gain to emphasize desired signals and frequencies while rejecting unwanted signals. These filters are powered by an external supply. This allows them to have a net power gain and capacity to increase the available signal power, voltage, or current.

Active filters typically use an amplifier to boost the input of the filter and use other components (like resistors or capacitors) to alter the filter's frequency response or its overall performance. Depending on the type of active filter you're using, it can act as a low pass filter, high pass filter, or even a bandpass filter. By adjusting these parameters within the active filter circuit and changing resistors, capacitors, and other components-- The filter can be customized to meet application-specific requirements. With their flexibility and ability to provide predictable gains, active filters have become increasingly popular solutions for many electronic systems.
