Manufacturer Highlights

Gec Plessey Semiconductors

GEC Plessey - Mitel - Zarlink - Microsemi Company Overview In 1989, GEC successfully acquired Plessey Semiconductors and, together with subsequently acquired Ferranti Semiconductors and the GEC subsidiary Marconi Electronic Devices, formed a single business unit named GEC Plessey Semiconductors. GEC Plessey was aquired by Mitel Semiconductor in February 1998, and in May, 2001, Mitel was renamed and rebranded as Zarlink Semiconductor. Most products from GEC Plessey Semiconductors, Marconi Electronic Devices and Ferranti Semiconductors did not survive these mergers and are now either obsolete or have been divested. Zarlink was acquired by Microsemi Corp. in October, 2011.
